The idea was simple: move abroad, have the international experience she had missed during her studies because of Covid, and try life somewhere new without necessarily changing everything.

But Oslo soon becomes more than a short stay. Ambre explores the city, starts learning Norwegian and finds her feet through her colleagues and housemates. Three weeks after arriving, she meets someone… and eventually buys a flat in Norway.

We talk about V.I.E. placements, moving abroad in your twenties, work, international relationships, Norwegian winters, language barriers, food, Norway’s national day on 17 May and meeting the in-laws. And about the moment a temporary experience starts to feel like a life of your own.
